Pigeon Roost Farm is a farm full of activities for the kids; heck, I even rolled myself around in the Giant Gerbil Wheel (sorry, unfortunately no pics of moi and my newly found hobby). My friend and I took our kids for some fall farm fun, and we were not disappointed. There were giant slides, corn mazes, obstacle courses, hay rides, duck races, and tons of outside play toys such as rocking horses, swings, and play gyms. The kids loved feeding the goats and patting a very friendly dwarf cow named Misty. My son chased the roosters and the turkeys around until he realized he couldn’t catch them. We picked out pumpkins and drank apple cider. It was truly a great way to spend a chilly fall day.
My cousin (@gr8prchic on Twitter if yer a’tweeter) told me about this “farm amusement park” and I was excited to check it out. Pigeon Roost Farm is located about 40 minutes out 70 East in Hebron. Super easy drive for few hours of fun, AND my son fell asleep in the car on the way home and
remained that way for two hours.
A few things I appreciated about the farm being a mom with small kids:
- Hand washing stations (near the animals and the port-o-potties).
- Play things that were meant to be used by kids of preschool age and younger.
- Lots of Halloween costumes and goodies for sale (almost a one stop shop for Halloween: costume, candy, pumpkins=DONE!).
- Ability to get a stroller through.
- Plenty of nice people on the farm that helped look for lost children and give directions to the potties.
- Interesting animals that looked well tended too – oh, did I mention two camels? There were two camels.
- Pumpkins, gourds, and squash for sale.
Pigeon Roost Farm is open through the month of October on weekdays and weekends. Admission is $5/person and under two is free. I just want to mention that the pumpkins are 35¢ a pound – that adds up quicker than you’d think. My friend bought a nice sized pumpkin, but not extraordinarily huge by any means, and paid almost $10 for it. Just looking out for your pocketbook.

If you plan to go:
- They are open weekdays and weekends – great for mommies groups!
- They sell snack food type items, but it is better to bring your own lunch.
- Easy to get a stroller around, but wearing baby would be okay too.
- Bring quarters to get food for the goats.
- Bring cash.
- The play area is in an open field, so if it looks like rain find shelter sooner rather than later.
- Be sure to check out the corn maze on the right, because it leads you into the woods where they have some great obstacle course-type things set up.
